Artist Mar Lar (U) was born on September 26, 1953, in Nandawkyun Village, Mandalay. He was an instructor at the State School Of fine art (Mandalay) from 1988 to 1998. He is also a founder and a member of the Myanmar Water Color Society (MWS).

He studied under great Myanmar artists U Kan Nyut, U Aye Kyaw, U Kyaw Lay, U Tin Aye, U Zaw Wynn, and U Win Maung at the State School of Fine Art (S.S.F.A ) Mandalay.

He has participated in over fifty group shows.

He is the collected artist of State Counsellor of Myanmar ( Daw Aung San Su Kyi ) His artworks are collected at the National Museum- Yangon Strand Hotel (Yangon), Sule Shangri-La Hotel (Yangon), Kempinski Hotel (Naypyidaw), Chatrium Hotel (Yangon) He is a full-time artist at his studio in Mandalay.
