Artist Mar Lar (U) was born in September 26, 1953 in Nandawkyun Village , Mandalay. He was an instructor at the State School Of fine art (Mandalay) from 1988 to 1998 . He is also a founder and a member of Myanmar Water Color Society (MWS).

He studied under great Myanmar Artist U Kan Nyut , U Aye Kyaw , U Kyaw Lay , U Tin Aye and U Zaw Wynn and U Win Maung at the State School of Fine Art (S.S.F.A ) Mandalay .

He has participated over fifty group show.

He is the collected artist of State Counsellor of Myanmar ( Daw Aung san Su Kyi ) His art works are collected at National Museum- Yangon Strand Hotel (Yangon), Sule Shangri-La Hotel (Yangon), Kempinski Hotel (Naypidaw),Chatrium Hotel (Yangon) He is a full time artist at his studio in Mandalay.
